Nature & Adventure

Descartier Rainforest Trail

Experience nature in its lush yet pristine splendor, when you trek through the dense undergrowth of the largest rainforest on the island. Peek through thick canopies to discover the wide variety of birds which nest within the forest and hopefully you will catch a glimpse of the elusive Amazona Versicolour, our national bird. Over the background chatter and birdsong, your Forestry guide will point out the many wonderful species of flora and fauna that surround you.

Mamiku Gardens

Imagine a garden owned and created by St. Lucia's most renowned landscape designer. This you will find at Mamiku Estate, where shaded paths guide you amongst St. Lucia's most exotic plants and flowers, to rest by a limpid pool, in the Secret Garden or, perhaps, amongst the ruins of the 18th century Estate House, with its commanding view over the bay of Praslin. This is a peaceful place, ruffled occasionally by the cool Atlantic breeze.... timeless! The Brigand's Bar has been thoughtfully located within easy access from the paths. Flowers can be chosen at Mamiku Gardens for delivery at the airport for you to bring back home.

Terrain Jeep Safari

For those of you who like double the fun, then here’s a chance to get double the adventure. This is a full day jeep safari, which takes you through the lush, green rainforest aboard an open top safari jeep. Spend more time learning about our island’s fauna and flora, while at the same time taking in the thrill of an adventure filled day.

Errard Plantation

Behind the east coast village of Dennery, a rough road leads you into the interior of the island where Errard lies in the same natural setting which witnessed its 300 years as a working plantation. Now, however, a large portion of Errard has been allowed to return to nature and we have the opportunity to enjoy the waterfalls, birds and flowers of the rainforest but in it's midst, an oasis of cultivation around the plantation house. You may bathe in the waterfall, wander through the forest trails, and learn as much as you like about St. Lucia's rich agricultural heritage or simply sit on the verandah awaiting lunch. The day is yours to enjoy in the atmosphere of St. Lucia at the turn of the century when the house was sent across from England and carried inland in sections. Lunch at this spice plantation will be much as it was then: fresh juices and provisions from the plantation, bread straight from the stone oven and all with the flavor of Creole cooking. After lunch, you may rest or wander at your leisure. This tour is in an open top jeep.

Rainforest Sky Rides

Experience a tour through nature in a totally different way. Traverse the rainforest while seated in an aerial tram gondola, overlooking the canopy of foliage below. Keep your ears and eyes opened as your tour guide points out to you the many different species of wildlife and trees. For those of you who wish to add a little more adventure and fun to the experience, the zip line method of traveling is highly recommended. Swing along 10 zip lines through the rainforest, before setting foot back on land. From here, there will be a short hike back to another gondola which will return you to the top station then onward to base, where there will be fruit drinks and water available.
